How do I get involved?
If your child is interested in taking part in any of the youth dance activities at The Place please email to join the youth dance mailing list.
The mailing list is used to advertise any youth activities at The Place, emails are sent detailing the specifics of each class or event and then bookings are taken on a first come first served basis. Once classes are full we enter ten children onto a reserve list for each class should any places become available within the academic year. These reserve lists begin anew each year.
Participants of holiday projects and workshops and siblings of existing students can be offered priority booking for Saturday classes on some occasions.
How does the Saturday programme work?
The Saturday programme is designed to train and nurture children and young people in contemporary dance technique and creativity through enjoyable classes where many dancers make new friends. The programme structure is set so that dancers may progress through the classes as they get older and gain more skills and experience, accessible classes for new comers are also available. Progression onto a new class usually happens at the end of an academic year when dancers have spent 1-2 years in a particular class.
We host a bi-annual show for Saturday classes to share their work with family and friends which takes place in the Robin Howard Dance Theatre based at The Place. On the years when the show is not taking place we endeavour to provide each class with an individual performance opportunity at festivals, events or other youth dance platforms in London.
Music plays an integral part in our programme and each class will experience a range of music including the opportunity to work with live musicians.
How do I pay Fees
Fees must be paid prior to term commencing unless otherwise agreed with a member of the administration team.
Fee Instalment plans can be arranged by mutual agreement of the fee payer and The Place and a £30 non returnable deposit must be paid prior to term commencing. Term prices can be found on the time table.
Fees can be paid by:
Debit/Credit Card in person or over the phone on 020 7121 1080

Cash in person.
The Place operates on a no refund policy unless participation is affected by a medical condition or injury upon which a refund will be issued on receipt of a medical certificate or doctor’s note.
What if my child does not enjoy the class?
If your child decides the programme is not for them we can issue a refund providing we are notified by the second week of term and are able to fill their place.
Other circumstances will be considered and all are subject to a £10 administration charge.
Can Parents/Carers watch classes?
We do not permit parents to remain in the studios whilst classes are taking place as it can be unsettling and disruptive to the class. Opportunities to watch classes are offered at the end of term open days when family and friends are invited into the studios to watch the young dancers in action.
What to wear
Dancers should wear clothes that are comfortable to move in – not too tight or too baggy. We suggest tracksuit bottoms, leggings or shorts and a t-shirt or leotard and footless tights. No shoes, jeans or jewellery are to be worn and long hair must be tied back.
Arrival and Collection Policy
We appreciate students arriving to and being collected from their classes promptly. For health and safety reasons if a student arrives late for class by 15 minutes or more it is the at the teachers discretion whether they may participate, however if asked to sit out students are always invited to observe.
We cannot accept responsibility for students Year 7 and up once sessions have finished. For children in years 1-6 we sign students out to parents/carers at the end of each session. In the event of an emergency the office should be notified of late collection at the earliest opportunity upon which your child will be brought to the office until collected.
Filming and Photography Policy
Filming and photography are only permitted when media consent has been agreed by a child’s parent/carer. By signing an enrolment form you are agreeing to the following statements:
I give permission for my child to be filmed and photographed when rehearsing or performing in their capacity as a training contemporary dancer at The Place and I understand that:
1. Photographs may be used to promote the work of young dancers on The Pace website and possibly also for posters, brochures and promotional material.
2. Filming of classes or rehearsals will be used purely for teaching and evacuation purposes only
3. Filming of performances in the Robin Howard Dance Theatre, the Place space or any other
venue under our supervision will be made available for purchase by friends and family of participating performers only
All students will be expected to behave appropriately at all times during the course. In the event of any disrespectful or inappropriate behaviour, students will be asked to leave the course and fees will not be refunded.
Students who miss three classes or more with unreported absences will be given an opportunity to improve on attendance else we may reconsider their place on the programme.
It is important we are made aware before hand of any medical conditions or injuries your child may have which may affect their participation on the day.
The Place is an accessible building and we endeavour to make our classes available to everyone. If you or your child has any access or other requirements please contact us.
