+ post-show Q&A on Tue 13 Mar with Lucy Field

Sensual Africa was created following choreographer Bawren Tavaziva’s inspirational trip to Malawi, one of Africa’s most beautiful countries. Bawren found a country that has retained a pure, raw, and mysterious culture, rich with life and sensuality. Sensual Africa pays tribute to the fascinating dances of the Tumbuka and Chewa tribes of Malawi that Bawren met on his travels. Tavaziva Dance injects its own interpretation into these intriguing tribes’ complex movement and music, revealing the distinctive, passionate rituals that boys and girls go through in order to attain adulthood.

"Their share attitude is brazen, challening and celebratory and their strong flexible young bodies ripe and ready for action." (The Times, ****)
