ABOUT JOSE 
Jose studied Anthropology and Sociology before beginning his dance training at the age of 25.  He attended the young choreographers' programme at Duke University in the US and went on to study in New York with various dance artists.  In 1997 he joined Czech-Italian company DejaDone and in 1998, he joined Transit Company in Barcelona.  Jose has received several FONDART (Funds for the Development of Culture and Arts) grants from the Chilean government to create new work and in 2002 he joined the commission in charge of choosing projects for FONDART to support.  He has choreographed several works for his own company, as well as for Ballet de Santiago and the stage play Circulando. He was professor at Universidad ARCIS between 2002 and 2005 and has an MA in choreography from London Contemporary Dance School.  He continues to perform with Steffen Doering and Skinworks Independent Company in London and has presented his own work at The Place.

ABOUT THE WORK
Jose's work is very influenced by the cinematic process. His ideas come from the way films are made and the way language is used.

WHERE YOU'VE SEEN HIM
Jose most recently presented Inventario in this year's Resolution! season at The Place.  His work was also seen in last year's Touch Wood.
