Free - places must be reserved in advance.

Jonzi D, one of the originators of hip hop theatre, critically examines a selection of his favourite screen moments, in conversation with Aerowaves Director, John Ashford.

Reel Lives is an ongoing series at The Place where leading artists offer insight into their work through sharing the screen moments that have inspired them. These can be dance films, performance recordings, iconic Hollywood scenes or even a short clip uploaded to YouTube. Whatever the format, these are the extracts that have had a memorable impact on the artist’s creative vision.

Jonzi D is the Artistic Director of Breakin’ Convention and Jonzi D Projects. He has been actively involved in British hip hop culture, rapping and b-boying since its genesis in the early eighties. Since graduating from London Contemporary Dance School, Jonzi has been committed to the development of hip hop theatre, creating Lyrikal Fearta in 1995 and Aeroplane Man in 1999. He was an Associate Artist at The Place and has performed and created dance theatre pieces worldwide.
