School is out for the summer so get your holidays off to a great start with a fun-filled day of dance at The Place. Something Happening for Kids is a family event featuring dance performances, storytelling and workshops alongside hands-on activities.
BOOKING
Tickets for the day cost £6 per child or adult.
A family ticket costs only £16 for any combination of four people including at least one adult.

A circus dance extravaganza
Suitable for any age
Suspended from the ceiling, performer Ilona Jäntti performs in a spider’s web of ropes in a fabulously imaginative show that combines circus, contemporary dance, animation and architecture.
First Moves 1 & 2
The youngest dancers (aged 5-8) from the Children and Youth Dance programme at The Place present two short pieces that bring magical creatures and a cheeky fruit salad to the stage.

A performance up close and in the round by First Moves 1 and 2, alongside extracts of Long Walk Home showing the hopes and dreams of four female dancers and accompanied by beautiful live folk music from the Askew Sisters.

After Effects is a solo dance that features an incredible interactive drum kit which takes on a life of its own as you play and move around it.

Swimming through the river, wading through long grass, tip-toeing through dark caves and tripping through the woods; join us on a brave journey through this much loved story that ends curled up in bed hiding from the big bad bear!
A participatory reading of We’re Going On A Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen. Both children and parents can explore the imaginary world of Rosen’s much loved bear hunt story, with specially created movements. Michael Rosen’s books will also be available to purchase on the day.

Percussion/Dance Workshops with Helen Clarke & Mark Ball
Using dance, musical instruments and body percussion, young dancers will have lots of fun exploring rhythms and creating movement to live musical accompaniment.

Movement Play & Free Play with Louise Klarnett
Parent and toddler workshops (3 months - 3 years) provide babies with a movement, sensory and rhythmic experience in a playful environment supported by their parent or carer. The 3-5 year old workshops use movement, music, props and language. The sessions encourage children to creatively explore body shapes, rhythms and patterns, developing body awareness and confidence. Please wear loose comfortable clothing.

Dance Workshop with Laura Aldridge
Roll up, roll up, the circus is in town. Come and dance with juggling balls, tackle the invisible 500ft tightrope and catch out your clowning shadow with fun, energetic dance that plays with all the best bits of circus. The sessions teach technique through creative tasks to get your imagination dancing.

2) Choose which performance of HUHU you would like to see (12pm or 3.15pm)
3) Select the number of standard (adult) and child tickets you require
4) Other performances are first come, first served on the day
5) One workshop place per child may be reserved in advance – call 020 7121 1100 to book
6) If you book four or more tickets, your family ticket discount will be applied when you proceed to checkout
