Lewis Wilkins grew up in Dartington in south Devon, and danced for Devon Youth Dance Company from 2001-04. He went on to study Dance, Media and Theatre at Advanced Level at Kennicott Sixth Form College, before graduating from London Contemporary Dance School with a first class honours degree in 2009. During his training, Lewis performed in many student workshop platforms, choreographed for the third year touring company LC3, and choreographed a collaborative performance piece with a postgraduate composer from Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He also worked with professional artists such as Richard Alston, Jan de Schynkel, Anna Williams and Jose Vidal. Lewis joined Richard Alston Dance Company as an apprentice dancer in 2009.
