This specialisation is designed for students who have graduated from vocational training programmes and are ready to explore their individual potential further by developing their experience and understanding of performance. Through greater focus on the processes of devising work and/or rehearsing repertoire, followed by performances in a variety of venues, students will have the opportunity to explore and research technical and artistic skills.

There are two possible paths of study:

EDge
Students pursue a programme of creative investigations under the direction of a selection of professional choreographers, gradually creating a body of work that is rich, exciting and fulfilling to perform.Through rigorous enquiry, playful curiosity and the development of an embodied understanding, students can deepen their physical knowledge and fine tune their movement awareness. The programme is led by a wealth of experienced practitioners, who enable the students to discover a strengthened selfsufficiency. They are guided and supported by the Artistic Director with whom they work to transform their experiences to the performing arena.

This provides an opportunity to develop and discover the aesthetics of performance within a far reaching touring programme – encompassing a wide range of venues and performance possibilities both nationally and internationally.

Dance Company Apprenticeship
Performance students may choose to apply for a Postgraduate Apprenticeship, developing their skills as performers through placements within professional companies. In recent years, places have been available with the Richard Alston Dance Company, Scottish Dance Theatre, Diversions, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Jasmin Vardimon Dance Company, Henri Oguike Dance Company and Hofesh Shechter.

Apprentices spend the majority of the year with the host companies and complete their academic work by correspondence, with regular feedback from the Head of Postgraduate Studies.
