In the semi-finals, each of the 20 pieces commissioned for The Place Prize 2008, sponsored by Bloomberg, is performed just once.
They have just one chance to impress the audience and the judging panel. The best piece of the 20 as voted for by the audience will enter the finals, together with four works chosen by the judges.
