All degrees can be followed on a full or part-time basis (overseas students may be full-time only). Research degree programmes are infused with the general atmosphere of the postgraduate department, where there is a shared ethos of critical and reflective practice allied to a range of current artistic concerns. Supervisors are drawn from the School faculty and from a wider network of academic and artistic practitioners. Past studies at research level have included choreographic, pedagogical, historical and archival projects, and we particularly welcome new research proposals within the three fields covered by the taught postgraduate courses.

Students in the research community at The Place are encouraged and supported as they develop their ideas and practice, and are empowered by their tutors to develop their own way of working within an informed environment. They are invited to present at informal seminars and have the chance to attend and to participate in the growing research activity at The Place, and across the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama.
