CDD Bursaries

As part of its commitment to ensure that students from lower-income backgrounds are not deterred from entering higher education, the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama is offering cash bursaries. These are given to eligible students and are not loans so do not have to be repaid.
The Conservatoire offers a bursary of up to £1,650 for each of the three years of a  fulltime programme of study. Students on two or three year programmes will be eligible for a final year additional bursary of up to £400. Eligible Foundation Degree students may choose to receive their additional bursary in the final year of their Foundation degree or save it for the BA (Honours) year if they intend to continue studying. It will, however, only be paid for one year.

Making an application

You can apply for a bursary as part of the registration process when you start your programme. The Conservatoire will use Local Education Authority and/or Student Loan Company information to assess what level of bursary you will receive. Please bring your assessment letter which you will receive from your LEA when you apply for a maintenance grant with you when you register at your school. This letter confirms the amount of your higher education maintenance grant and your assessed income. The school will need to see a copy of the original letter.

Payment of bursaries

Bursaries will usually be paid by cheque by London Contemporary Dance School. The exact timing will be dependent on when the  Conservatoire receives its fee income from the Student Loan Company. The first payment of the bursary will not be before the second term after you have started.
