Designed for complete beginners this course serves as an ideal starting point to take your first steps in dance. Students are guided through the key principles of contemporary dance in relaxed and informative classes, which provides participants with a sound knowledge of the basic technique, movement vocabulary, coordination and confidence needed to prepare them to progress on to level 1.

 

After graduating from Middlesex University in 2001, Marie Forbes joined Loop Dance Company as a dancer and has since toured works by choreographers including; Yael Flexor, Jonzi D, Fillip Van Huffel, Rashpal Singh Bansal, Nina Atkinson and Annie Lok. As a freelance choreographer and performer Marie has been involved in a number of dance projects including choreographing a dance piece for the Exhibit '06 Sensory Material event at Bonhams The Auctioneers, performing at Buckingham Palace Gardens for Queen Elizabeth's 80th Birthday Children's Party and touring South Africa with Adrenalin Dance Productions. 

As a teacher Marie has worked for Theatre Rites and the Essential Alston programme delivering workshops across the UK, she is also a Dance Lecturer at K College and Greenwich University where she teaches for the FE and HE Performing Arts courses.   She is a visiting lecturer for London Studio Centre and runs the CAT Satellite programme in Kent for Laban on behalf of Loop Dance Company.  Marie was the Shift Youth Dance Company Rehearsal Director at The Place for 2010-2011 and is currently the Dance Artist Educator for the Pass it On project at Siobhan Davies Dance.
