Isabel Tamen, a founder member of Richard Alston Dance Company, is to re-join the company in the newly created role of Executive Director.
As Executive Director, Tamen will work alongside Richard Alston in building and developing a vision for the company’s future, and take on lead responsibility for day-to-day management of the company’s resources, touring and education work. Chris May will continue in his role as Administrative Director, completing the company’s management team.
Tamen danced with Richard Alston Dance Company from 1994-1999 before leaving to join fellow former RADC dancer Henri Oguike as the founding General Manager of Henri Oguike Dance Company. Tamen leaves that role as the company celebrates its 10th anniversary, having won the 2007 National Dance Award for outstanding modern repertoire.
Her new role sees Tamen return to The Place, where she trained at London Contemporary Dance School and performed with London Contemporary Dance Theatre from 1988-1994 before joining Richard Alston Dance Company.
Richard Alston Dance Company is currently touring the UK, and in January Alston was honoured with the DeValois Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance at the 2008 National Dance Awards.
