EDge offers a group of postgraduate performance students the possibility of developing their skills as dance artists in an intensely creative environment.
The postgraduate performance course is designed for skilled and physically knowledgeable students who wish to deepen and extend their artistic abilities through rigorous, investigative enquiry, and creative playfulness. Alongside the devising and creation of work, there exists a continual experimental debate with the aesthetics of performance. An engaged curiosity and open minded approach is paramount.
EDge offers postgraduate performers the opportunity to research and develop ideas directed by a wide range of professional artists in an environment of exploration and discovery. Encompassing a diverse and textured programme of works that spill across a variety of artistic disciplines, the national and international tour undertaken involves a wide range of venues and performance possibilities. Within this touring programme, EDge also engages in collaborative exchanges with similar institutions both here and abroad, and have the additional opportunity to engage in educational teaching and the development of creative workshops.
This constant engagement and active dialogue with a wealth of high calibre professional artists aids and supports students’ transition into the professional world.
Dancer/Choreographers with EDge
EDge will include two or three dancer/choreographers within the company.
These artists will make works on their fellow company members which will be part of the company's touring repertoire, alongside works by guest choreographers.
These possibilities have been created for students interested in developing their choreographic and performance practices side-by-side. The students' programme will be closely integrated with a range of artist development opportunities offered by The Place, including the new Work Place scheme for the support and development of dance artists at different career stages.
