Martin Lawrance

Martin was born in Leicester and began dancing with Leicester Youth Dance Theatre under the direction of Sue Rosenbloom. He trained at Coventry Centre for the Performing Arts from 1989-1991 and at London Contemporary Dance School from 1991-1994. He performed with the postgraduate performance group 4D where he first worked with Richard Alston. Martin has also worked with Henri Oguike Dance Company and Charles Linehan Dance Company and in June 1998 he was a dancer on the Choreography Workshop at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, USA. Martin’s other overseas projects include work with  State School of Dance in Athens, where he restaged Alston’s Beyond Measure, Fever and Red Run. For Richard Alston Dance Company Martin has restaged Lachrymae, Slow Airs, Sudden Exit, Roughcut, Fever, Red Run and Gypsy Mixture. This summer he restaged The Signal of a Shake for LCDS. In 2003-2004 he was rehearsal director for Richard Alston Dance Company and has danced with the Company since summer 1995.
