As part of the continuing celebration of The Place’s 40th anniversary, a first ever reunion of London Contemporary Dance School Students will be held at The Place on Wednesday 10 February from 5-9pm.

London Contemporary Dance School, a founding affiliate of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama,  has been training professional dancers since even before The Place opened its doors in 1969. Many have gone on to found companies, become directors of leading dance organisations internationally, and be recognised as outstanding performers and choreographers. The reunion is the climax of a campaign to reconnect the School’s 3,000 former students to form an official Alumni Network offering members benefits and services.

Over 200 former students from as far afield as the Australia, Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Turkey and the United States will be attending the reunion, which will be themed by decade. Different areas of The Place will exhibit photographs, costumes and other memorabilia from the sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties and the past 10 years. There will also be film screenings of past graduation performances, and the School’s current students will perform their own work throughout the evening.

Veronica Lewis, Director of London Contemporary Dance School, said:
“The Place’s 40th anniversary year is an occasion to remember what makes The Place special: it is a place where people make new discoveries and find new inspiration at all stages of their lives in dance. I am extremely excited to be welcoming back our alumni who have contributed so much to the development of London Contemporary Dance School’s reputation as a world-class conservatoire, and indeed the development of dance throughout the world.”

London Contemporary Dance School alumni wishing to attend the reunion should contact or call Craig Edwards on 020 7121 1054.
