a production image of Zoi Dimitriou, In the process of... shows a couple apparently slow dancing, the woman dressed in bright red has the upper hand adn the man looks nervous

IN THE PROCESS OF… is a beautifully crafted new duet in which a man and woman negotiate a series of endings, rather than a single unfolding narrative leading to one inevitable finale.

60 wooden hoops dramatically help and hinder the couple’s relationship on stage. This exploration of stylised film genre movements is underscored by Conlon Nancarrow’s compositional structures and lit by Gregor Knüppel. The work was commissioned by The Place and The Columbia Foundation and developed as part of Choreoroam at The Place.

In 2009 Zoi Dimitriou won the Bonnie Bird Choreography Fund Award and was the recipient of a Robin Howard Foundation Commission in 2008. She danced with companies including Yvonne Rainer, Felix Ruckert, Bedlam Dance, Blue White Dance Company and Siobhan Davies Dance Company before launching her own choreographic career.
