Full colour image. A group of about seven dancers dressed in colourful practice dance clothes stand in front of a bright light which shines forwards. They are in a rough straight line with one dancer stepping out to the right.

Jose Vidal’s Loop is both a live performance and art installation that features a moving, mutating mass of eight bodies.

Inspired by Renaissance painting and contemporary photography, there are sophisticated, quicksilver transitions of rhythm and costume guiding what appears to be a wild, multi-limbed organism that breathes, pants, smells and sweats. Loop was originally presented as a work in progress during Touch Wood 2009 at The Place.

Chilean born, Jose Vidal has performed with Czech-Italian company Déjà Donné and Transit Company in Barcelona. He has choreographed works for Ballet de Santiago and was a commissioned artist for The Place Prize 2008.
