The Place is expanding - building two new studios on top of its existing block to create more space for young people, students and professional artists to create dance in our unique building.
The new studios have been designed by architects Allies and Morrison, who designed the existing studio block and oversaw our last major redevelopment from 1999-2001. The main contractors are Killby & Gayford. Construction begins on Monday 2 July, and the new studios are due for completion by the end of January.
To accomodate the building works, some of The Place's activities over the Summer have been adapted. The first three weeks of our Choreodrome research project for professional artists will relocate to the studios at Central School of Ballet, and our studios will not be available for outside hirers from July - September 2007.
A major fundraising campaign has already raised over half of the £1.3million cost of this budget. For details of how you can support it, visit our Reaching for the Stars Appeal pages.
