An introduction to Ohad Naharin’s GAGA technique
These three days will be spent getting to know GAGA, the movement method of Ohad Naharin of Batsheva Dance Company in Israel. Gaga, is an evolving language of movement research designed to access an ever-expanding range of physicality through the imagery of sensation. Gaga takes an instinctive approach towards movement, emphasizing quality and texture. In a sense, how you move is more important than the dance you show. In the workshop we will seek to experience this distinction mainly through improvisation.
The very physical experience is a good way to warm up mind and body into discovering and developing each individual’s unique movement style. By encouraging us to push our limits and break out from the regular habits we fall into, gaga is a great tool for inspiring the body into new movement.
