We encourage teachers to assist participants with level selection. Please ask the teaching staff to advise you as to what level is most suitable for your ability.
Contemporary Introduction (termly enroment only)
This class introduces you to the basics of contemporary dance and is suitable for complete beginners. Enjoy taking your first dance steps in these relaxed and informative classes. A new technique will be introduced each term.
Contemporary Level 1
Fun and informal classes for those with up to two years’ dance experience. You will develop ability and confidence at your own pace under the guidance of highly experienced teachers.
Contemporary Level 2
Designed to develop dance technique and style, these classes offer a clear progression from Level 1, and are also suitable if you have experience or are returning to dance.
Contemporary Level 3
These fast-paced, challenging classes are for advanced students with four or more years experience. The emphasis is on building movement sequences which will stretch your facility and versatility.
Ballet Introduction (yearly enrolment only)
A fun and informative introduction to ballet suitable for complete beginners. You will learn the basics of ballet technique in a stimulating environment.
Ballet Level 1
Suitable for those with some ballet experience. These classes will allow you to gain a good understanding of ballet steps and enable you to progress to more advanced classes.
Ballet Level 2
These classes, designed for people with at least two years’ ballet experience, will broaden your knowledge and appreciation of ballet.
Ballet Level 3
Challenging ballet classes for those interested in developing their ballet vocabulary and musicality. You should have at least three years’ recent ballet experience to take these classes.
Performance Project Levels 2 & 3 (termly enrolment only)
Sarah Francis will work with you in twice-weekly rehearsals devising a piece of choreography to be performed at the end of term. The project allows you to experience the choreographic process first-hand and develop your own movement under the direction of this accomplished dance artist. These classes are for students with a sound technical ability who wish to further develop their performance skills.
Pilates Open
Pilates is a body conditioning technique that will help you strengthen core muscles and improve your flexibility. Akane will lead an open class for all abilities offering the ideal complement to one of our rigorous technique classes. Please note this class is not suitable for pregnant women.
Contemporary with Breaking Levels 1-3
In these classes you will learn contemporary infused with breaking skills and footwork. This an open class suitable for all levels of ability.
Contact Improvisation Levels 2 & 3
You'll discover the concepts of contact improvisation in these stimulating sessions. Rick Nodine and Simonetta Alessandri, pioneers in their field, will help you explore new ways of moving and equip you with practical skills to develop your ability as a contact improviser.
Contemporary Jazz Open Level
Through unique Jazz routines, Hagit will work with you to develop flexibility, strength and musicality. This class is an open class, however it is a very challenging class and it's advisable that participants have some previous dance experience.
