Students and alumni from LC3, the third year performance group of London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS), have been invited to perform at the first International Dance Gala in Verona held in memory of Federica Mazzi, a former LCDS student, who died in 2007 at the age of 28.
Gran Guardia Auditorium, Palazzo della Guardia, Verona, Italy
Sat 26 March 2011
Alumni James Wilton (Sadlers Wells’ Global Dance Contest Winner 2010) and Sarah Jane Taylor are performing a specially choreographed duet, alongside fellow former students Yaa Appiah-Badu, Aurelie Poles and Megan Griffith, presenting the acclaimed Patesco, by Serena Morgan (Tavaziva Dance Company), choreographed for LC3 2010. Current LC3 students Francesco Ferrari, Ivan Oltramari and Paolo Fenu will perform Prime Moves, choreographed by third year student Giorgio Azzone.
They will be joined on the stunning stage of Palazzo della Guardia by RBR Dance Company, from Verona, and by an international collective of acclaimed dance practitioners including Chiara Guerra, (Verona), Simone Bacchin (Spain), Riccardo Meneghini and Elena Zaino (both UK), Maria Nikolulea (Greece), and the actor Gianni Franceschini, for a night celebrating dance - Federica’s main passion.
The charitable event aims to raise funds for Young Point Federica Mazzi, a project promoted by the Fondazione L’Ancora, which helps people in need, offering a safe and engaging environment. Young Point Federica Mazzi was created in 2008 for young people in Verona as a creative space for performance, music, theatre, sport and recreational activities.
The first International Dance Gala is to remember Federica through the medium she dedicated her life to: dance.
