Tuition fees for London Contemporary Dance School are set by the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama. For complete information about fees and funding available go to www.cdd.ac.uk you can also download the Guide to fees 2011/12 at the bottom of this page.
Note that this information is valid for students beginning degree programmes at LCDS before September 2012, when UK higher education funding changes. For details of fees and support from September 2012 onwards, see Fees from September 2012.
Letter Writing Campaign
We actively encourage any interested student to embark upon a letter-writing campaign to relevant funding bodies. Searchable databases like FunderFinder (available in the LCDS library) will help to match students with any Trust or Charity that routinely distributes bursaries to assist students with the cost of higher education. The Student Support staff will be more than happy to assist you in writing a letter for this purpose (our contact information can be found at the bottom of this page).
LCDS is grateful to receive funding from several trusts that are consequently unlikely to consider individual requests for support. For this reason, we ask you to please refrain from contacting the following organisations:
• The Leverhulme Trust
• The Eranda Foundation
• The John Lyons Charitable Trust
• The Craignish Trust
• The South Square Trust
• The Harold Hyam Wingate Charitable Foundation
Fund for Excellence
The Fund for Excellence (FFE) is a donor supported fund that exists to assist students with tuition, maintenance or other costs. All postgraduate students are able to apply following an offer of a place at LCDS.
There are two main criteria that guide bursary award decisions, the first is the applicant's level of need and the second is any effort the applicant has undertaken to mitigate their need. Steps that students often take to mitigate their need could include employment (both during the summer and term-time), sound financial planning, and undertaking a letter-writing campaign. Bursary award decisions are typically made in late June or early July.
Applicants will be required to complete a prospective budget for the year that demonstrates the funding that they anticipate coming in and the amount of money that they expect to have to spend.
Professional and Career Development Loan
UK students accepted on to a postgraduate programme of study are eligible to apply for a Professional and Career Development Loan however it is important that applicants understand the way that this loan differs from the student loans currently available at the undergraduate level. Professional and Career Development Loans will typically have a higher rate of interest with repayments beginning one month following the completion of their course. Monthly repayments are not tied to income and will be due no matter what the borrower’s income level is. For this reason it is important to consider if such a loan is the right decision for you.
For those wishing to make an application, please ensure that you use “Contemporary Dance Trust” and not London Contemporary Dance School or the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama as the institution at which you will be training. Additionally, you will need to include our Learner Provider Number (10678) and one of the following four programmes at MA level (exactly as written):
Advanced Dance Studies
Performance
Choreography
Dance Education and Training
