September 2009 Entry
The application deadline for all taught postgraduate programmes is Fri 30 January 2009, 5pm for entry in the following September, with auditions taking place in March/April. Students interested in postgraduate studies are warmly invited to contact us to discuss any of the programmes in more detail or to arrange a visit to The Place. The School can give postgraduate students advice on applying for funding and does offer some financial aid.
Because of the very large numbers of applications, coupled with our commitment to audition everyone who applies, the first audition attended will serve as the preliminary audition for all other companies to which you have applied. For example, if you apply for Scottish Dance Theatre, at the end of that weekend you will hear whether or not you have been short listed for that company AND whether or not you have been invited to attend any further auditions for EDge or other host companies.Candidates are advised to apply for an audition as early as possible in the audition cycle. The School may not be able to audition anyone who applies after 27 February 2009. Online applications will be available in November 2008, to apply by post download the postal application form. If accepted students need to reach the required level of English by 15 August 2009.
Entrance requirements
Candidates will usually have a first or upper second class degree in dance, or in another subject with a major dance component. Individual applications will also be considered from candidates who have a high level of professional experience, or are graduates from another discipline, and who have the knowledge, understanding, skill, motivation and experience to succeed at the advanced level of this programme.
Candidates for whom English is not their first language are required to demonstrate language proficiency. The School accepts either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Tests of English as a Foreign Language (ToEFL) and students are required to take either of these examinations in their own country, soon after accepting a place at the School and before enrolment. Minimum recommended score required for postgraduate studies is IELTS 7.0 (Academic) or ToEFL 600.
Equal Opportunities
London Contemporary Dance School does not discriminate against students on grounds of age, sex, disability, ethnicity, or religion. It does, however, judge applicants critically on their readiness for a course of study according to their ability and their potential to benefit from our particular programmes.
Information for disabled students
Applicants are encouraged to inform us of any impairment or condition as early as possible (for example dyslexia, or a physical,
sensory or mental health condition) so that the School can endeavour to make any adjustments at audition and during
the programme. There is a place on the application form to include this information.
