Get kids dancing

Alongside a bold programme of contemporary dance for families in their theatre, The Place offers a wide range of dance classes and courses aimed specifically at children and young people of all abilities.

The dance classes for 5-15 years olds run every Saturday throughout term time, and in the holidays there are special workshops and courses. For young people who want to have fun dancing, or those who are a bit more serious about developing their skills, there is a class to suit.

One of the regular young dancers at the Saturday classes Hoani (aged 12) explains why he enjoys dancing. 'It gives me a way of expressing myself, I love it because it’s so fluid, you can do whatever you want, no-one’s going to judge you for it. It’s really fun and free.'

Hoani is a recipient of the Iris Tomlinson Fund at The Place, which is a means tested bursary to help children fulfil their dancing potential by increasing access and removing financial barriers for families.

If you're interested in getting your kids dancing come and have a look at what goes on in our building.
