Resolution! is The Place’s annual, new year open season for short live dance works by emerging choreographers. It has been a starting point for artists such as Russell Maliphant, Mark Baldwin, Wayne McGregor, Charlotte Vincent, Jasmin Vardimon and Hofesh Shechter. Works are presented in nightly changing triple bills each January and February.

Anyone can apply to present work in Resolution! Priority is given to  applications proposing work that is contemporary in content and for groups rather than solo dancers. The work should be by new artists who have completed full-time vocational training in dance, experienced dancers at the outset of their choreographic career or younger artists who can demonstrate an engagement with the dance profession and its opportunities.

Companies selected to take part in Resolution! receive:

  • a one-third share of the net box office receipts after the theatre's fee
  • full technical and marketing support, including three technicians for your performance and inclusion in Resolution! brochures.
  • reviews of your work established and emerging critics for Resolution! Review online.
  • invitations to free and subsidised workshops open to complement and inform the choreographic process.
  • a HD quality recording of your performance at a subsidised price.
  • where available, Evolution artists (those who have previously shown work at The Place) may use studio rehearsal space at The Place free of charge

Application to take part in Resolution! 2015 will open this summer. Please check back later for more information.
