About Summer Dance Courses

Situated in the heart of London, The Place, the UK’s premier centre for dance, offers three weeks of exhilarating dance courses for adults of all abilities.
We are the only organisation offering summer dance courses that are completely flexible, taught by renowned international dance artists and companies.

Create your own programme:
Choose from a wide range of courses including repertoire workshops taught by resident companies, contemporary and ballet techniques, creative workshops, improvisation, Jazz and much more.

Each course runs Monday – Friday. Choose one of four courses per timeslot (up to 4 a day) and design your own unique programme as intense as you wish.

At the end of each week you’ll have the chance to present work in our informal studio sharings.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Place for an inspirational summer of dance.

“An intensive but encouraging week of dance. The teaching was excellent and there was a great team spirit. I felt guided and challenged, and felt like I improved hugely over the week.” Participant

Summer Dance Courses: Lunchtime Sessions

This year as part of the Summer Dance Courses Programme, we are also offering a range of free, inspiring lunchtime talks. These events are free for Summer Dance Courses attendees and you can sign up on Monday of each week.

Monday Lunchtime: Welcome to The Place
Join us on the first day for an introduction to Summer Dance Courses and a brief insight into everything that goes on in this vibrant building.

Tuesday Lunchtime: Teachers Tea Break
We invite teachers to join us over lunch for tea and networking with others in the field. Hear first-hand from staff and artists about opportunities for schools and teachers at The Place and join an open discussion on how you might be able to transfer your learning into the classroom and inspire your students.

Wednesday Lunchtime: Artists Q&A
Each week we will be joined by some of our Summer Dance Courses artists who will be there to answer any questions you might have. A unique opportunity to get to know these artists better and find out more about their careers paths, training and answer any burning questions you might have.

Thursday Lunchtime: London Contemporary Dance School
Staff from London Contemporary Dance School will be on hand to provide you with an introduction to the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Gain an insight into what they study and the application process.
