Designed for complete beginners this course serves as an ideal starting point to take your first steps in dance. Students are guided through the key principles of ballet technique in energetic and stimulating sessions, which encourage creativity and physicality. These fun sessions provide participants with a sound knowledge of the basic technique, movement vocabulary, coordination and confidence needed to prepare them to progress on to Level 1.
This course runs from Monday 3 - Friday 7 August and the price quoted is for the full 5 days.
Kasper began his dance training with Sara Phillips in 1984 and graduated from Central School of Ballet in 1993 after which he joined Independent Ballet Wales touring the UK in productions of The Swan and Cinderella.
He has also performed in Ballet Dancer to Wrestler for the BAFTA award winning Channel 4 series Faking It to the title role in The Snowman (Birmingham Rep, West End and BBC film of the stage show). Other credits include The Phantom of the Opera feature film and dancing the role of The Slavemaster for the national tour of the stage show. He played the Prince of Transylvania in the National Theatre production of My Fair Lady at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, was a founding member of Just Desert Dance Co. and as a freelance principal artist has danced popular ballet pas de deux as far afield as Japan.
He was principal ballet dancer at Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 1996 as well as understudy to Zoltan Solymosi and toured France and Switzerland in Maurice Bejart’s Bolero with Sylvie Guillem.
His work as a choreographer includes acting movement and classical ballet, such as The Classical Brits (TV & DVD), the feature film London Voodoo, Maksim - The Piano Player (TV & DVD), Clown but not out for Zen Films, Shakespeare’s Happy Endings (BBC 4) and Tim Minchin’s ‘Canvas Bag’ for Comedy Shuffle (BBC 3).
He has choreographed ballet/neo-classical pieces for: Nickleodeon TV, Riverside Studios, Terence Higgins Trust, Cambridge Performing Arts, English Youth Ballet and was a judge for the London finals of Dance Challenge.
Kasper has taught classical ballet, pas de deux and classical repertoire since 1995 for The Italia Conti Academy, West London School of Dance, English Youth Ballet, Studio Petit Etoile (Japan) and was Ballet Master for European Ballet’s 1997 summer tour.
He worked with East London Dance in 2009/10 as an Inset instructor and workshop leader for their DansAthletic project in East London schools in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics.
Kasper currently teaches ballet and related subjects for Cambridge Performing Arts, the Cecchetti Associates and Scholars and The Place's Centre for Advanced Training (CAT).
