These classes are designed to expand your knowledge and performance skills, helping to focus and refine one's artistry. You will work further on technique and learning the dynamics of movement phrasing. These classes are also suitable for participants with experience who are returning to dance. Classes comprise of a variety of exercises at the barre, enabling students to warm muscles and mobilise joints whilst refining and developing technique. The class continues in the centre with port de bras, adagio, pirouettes and jumps in preparation for allegros and travelling sequences and combinations across the floor. Participants are encouraged to move through material without getting too engrossed in the technique of steps but to focus on enjoying moving and absorbing oneself in dancing to fantastic live music.
Alex studied at The Hammond School of Dance followed by the Central School of Ballet in London. She has danced in many companies and productions around Europe including: Ballet Ireland, Mavin Khoo Dance, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Regensburg State Theatre, as a principal with English Youth Ballet, and at ROH2 in Will Tuckett’s productions of Pinocchio and Faeries. She has performed in Glyndebourne’s productions of Rinaldo and Der Rosenkavalier and also regularly collaborates with Icon Dance, the latest project being a dance installation at The British Museum. She has most recently performed the role of Louise Bigelow and dance captain in Carousel and dancer and dance captain in Kiss me Kate for Opera North touring the UK.
