Professional Class with Eva Recacha

20-24 March

All professional classes at The Place are intended for high-level dancers only. These classes offer professional dancers an opportunity to maintain their skills and abilities, network with other professionals and even maybe find new projects to work on.

If you are an amateur dancer, there are lots of other opportunities for you to engage with. Browse our adult classes programme for more information.

These classes require professional standards from participants and early arrival is required for warm up.

About the class

Eva’s class draws from her wide experience as a maker, dancer and teacher. This week she will focus on exploring effort and rhythm in movement, and she will share some of the methods used in her work to create moving partnerships based on rhythmic mechanisms. The class will be based on exploratory tasks of an improvisational nature, with clear parameters to focus our practice. Eva’s class grows in pace and physicality, deeply rooting the body.

About Eva Recacha

Eva Recacha trained at London Contemporary Dance School. She has performed in the UK with Frauke Requardt and Lost Dog, with Proyecto Babel in Spain and with inFlux in Switzerland. In 2001 she founded Proyecto Babel, a dance project focused on interdisciplinary and site-specific work. With Proyecto Babel she made work for urban landscapes such as the Caixa Forum in Barcelona and the Goya Fountain in Zaragoza. Eva is a recipient of the Marion North Mentoring Award 2011-12.

Since 2009 Eva has been making her own work in the UK. She was a Place Prize Finalist in 2011 with her work Begin to Begin: A Piece About Dead Ends, and again in 2013 with The Wishing Well. Her work P&J, a commission for EDge inspired by Punch and Judy, toured the UK and Europe in 2011. Eva’s latest work Easy Rider was presented at The Place.
