TUNE-D IN was an exciting project for young people aged 13-19 years, led by our Associate producer Hakeem Onibudo, all about inspiring creativity through collaboration. Participants included young people from The Place’s senior youth dance company Shift, Youthsayers, Impact Youth, The Rhythm Studio (ft. Myla), Artistry Youth Dance Company, Raw Material, Rebekah Rayner, Nathalie de Leuw and Lotus Youth Dance Company. One participant commented:
“We’ve learnt so much through taking part in TUNE-D IN, particularly how to communicate with musicians and vice versa.”
Over a period of seven months these young dance makers and musicians worked with guest artists; composer Steve Blake and choreographer Lea Anderson, their group leaders and Hakeem Onibudo to investigate news ways of creating performance. The final event was a night of performance at The Place theatre.
