On Mon 7 Oct 2019 The Place and LASALLE, Singapore’s only dedicated contemporary arts college, signed an agreement to develop partnerships and academic collaborations over the next five years, including the exploration of joint programmes. Vice Chair Jane Alexander signed the agreement on behalf of The Place while President Steve Dixon signed for LASALLE (see photo). Both conservatoires will actively encourage and facilitate joint activities such as student and faculty exchanges, collaborative research and academic symposiums or other projects that are of mutual interest.
A leading institution in cutting edge contemporary arts and design education, LASALLE offers more than 30 different programmes and is led by a community of award-winning artists, designers, educators and researchers. Plugged into the global arts scene, LASALLE has a practical approach to creative education, with international guest artists sharing their expertise and bringing fresh perspectives, so students can benefit from invaluable collaborations with established industry partners and open doors to future careers. LASALLE has a long tradition of practice-led research in art and design with a faculty of Singaporean and international artists and educators from more than 40 countries worldwide.
With the student experience in mind, the two institutions make ideal collaborative partners with their vision, values and pedagogy closely aligned.
Both London Contemporary Dance School and LASALLE seek to inspire students to become forward-looking, globally engaged creative artists and critical thinkers who will contribute meaningfully to culture and society. Both institutions foster imagination, experimentation and new knowledge in creative practice and research and value collaboration, courage, excellence and agility. Both hold a steadfast believe in the significance of the arts to effect personal, social and economic transformations. An empowering and dynamic environment inspires ambitious aspirations for staff and students, so we are thrilled to offer future students this opportunity to learn, expand and develop high-level skills, creativity and critical reflection on the international stage.
