I started dancing when I was a small human, after I realised I wasn’t going to become a mermaid. I was a royal ballet associate before discovering my love for contemporary dance. I joined National Dance Company Wales associates scheme and was also a member of Blaenau Gwent’s youth Dance company The Move. I furthered my training at London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) graduating in 2010. Since then I’ve been very lucky to work with a diverse range of choreographers in a wide range of productions.
Fast paced and energetic with a chance to explore challenging movement phrases. I always try to break down phrases so that they are achievable for everyone and throw in the odd joke here and there.
I love seeing people’s passion and enjoyment for dance come back at me.
I’ve had several teachers who have had a big impact on me during my career. Karen Paisley, who was my Royal Ballet associate teacher, Sue Lewis, who taught me during my teenage years and gave me my first job when I graduated, Patricia Rianne, my ballet teacher at LCDS and Kerry Nicholls who I worked with as a student at LCDS. They have all been key in my development as an artist and also inspired me with their teaching techniques and methods. Words can not express my gratitude to them.
The constant search for work! As a freelancer it can also be quite a lonely life and it’s absolutely vital to support other artists to keep morale high.
