Author: The Place
The Place and London Contemporary Dance School stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter in the fight against systemic racism, white supremacy, and the oppression of the Black Community across the world.
We stand with our Black students, colleagues, artists, and friends and condemn the senseless violence and injustices affecting the Black community across the world. Black Lives Matter.
We encourage our community to call racism out, act in protest, read and learn, and donate to the many funds available supporting this cause.
We are not good enough. We acknowledge our own lack of diversity and representation. As educators, makers, and allies, we commit to address the inequalities that result from systemic and institutional racism and accept our responsibility to continue building initiatives that address this.
We pledge to educate ourselves, listen more, do better, and speak up in the face of any attacks on humanity and to foster a space where everyone is seen and heard.
To be silent is to be complicit. Silence is simply not an option.
