Our Programmer and Producer, Ellie Beedham offers a few insights about this year's family festival Something Happening for Kids.
1. What is so special about the family programme at The Place? What can children experience here they couldn’t really experience anywhere else?
The Place offers new and extraordinary encounters designed for kids and their families to enjoy. What’s different about The Place is that inclusion of all members of the family and the high quality of the programme. Every show and activity is an adventure inviting you to dance and play in a safe environment.
2. What can we expect from the shows coming up?
This year we have outside shows in a caravan with New Art Club, bound to be funny and a little bit silly. Beautiful Indian dance fused with contemporary movement from Mayrui Boonham’s Magic Fish. Plus little bespoke shows such as ‘figurines’ where you can watch and draw close up to a dancer. There’s also lots of workshops, hip hop, popping, improvisation, dancing with sculptures and more… Plus, most of it is free! There’s a Brazilian band in the café at lunchtime and a juggler with his Heath-Robinson contraptions. Children and adults will find something to keep them busy and thrilled with all the fun on offer.
Join us on Saturday 16 July for free activities, fun workshops and magical dance shows! See the full programme here
