The CAT Online Summer Intensive 2020 was moved entirely online, this gave us the opportunity to work with an artist specialising in a different art form, and artist blending different dance styles and an artist based overseas.
Omari Carter, James Williams and Anna Clifford from The Motion Dance Collective worked with all the students to create a film using body percussion and choreography called 'SPLIT 'N' GROOVE'. Omari performed in Stomp for many years and is also is a graduate of the worlds first masters degree in Screendance at LCDS. It’s even more relevant for the students to have had the opportunity to work with Motion Dance Collective as the graduates have been working on their own dance film which was premiered during the Online Graduation Ceremony for our CAT students. Joseph Toonga, an LCDS graduate himself and Artistic Director of Just Us Dance Theatre, hosted masterclasses with the CAT graduating students where they shared digital excerpts of their choreography and asked for tips and suggestions from Joseph. They came away inspired and encouraged by his advice and alsoby the individual way Joseph blends contemporary and hip-hop.
Alesandra Seutin is the artistic director of Vocab Dance. Alesandra is also going to be Guest Artistic Director for the National Youth Dance Company (NYDC) 2020-21.
