CHILDREN & THEIR GROWN-UPS Showcase

The Place are excited to join Pavilion Dance South West to present the annual CHILDREN & THEIR GROWN-UPS Showcase, a four day symposium celebrating new dance for young people from Wed 29 Sep - Sun 2 Oct, 2021.

This year's annual summit is set to reach new audiences across by bringing together 8 national partners, presenting both a live and a digital programme online for the first time.

The dance-based showcase offers a UK-wide programme of discussion, live and livestreamed work and pitches. Artists and companies will present new work specifically created for children.

The Showcase aims to initiate the creation and programming of more dance work for children and their grown-ups. There will be opportunities to watch never before seen shows aimed at an age span of 0-15 year olds. The presented works will be a mix of live and digital with an emphasis on presenting a moment to enjoy dance, to have fun, to experience different feelings or stories.

Children and young people have been particularly badly hit by the fallout of Covid. This Showcase will open a window onto new dance work for children that is available for touring. It gives artists, companies, producers and programmers a chance to hear about the co-creation of work with children and how it’s being adapated for different touring formats. It will feature live and digital work that is available in the UK and internationally and there will be daily sessions available where 1-1s can be booked with other delegates.

The whole programme will be available to watch wherever you are in the world. Sessions will be available to watch in realtime and to access on demand for a limited period. There will be live programmed work for public audiences presented by venue partners, which will also be available to watch digitally.

This is a new approach to showcasing, involving multiple locations and partnerships across the UK. We hope you enjoy it as well as make some good connections through it.
