About

Classes and Courses Musicians

The Place is home to a busy Classes & Courses Programme, running approximately 45 classes per week for Children, Young People and Adults (aged 2 to 60+).

Sessions take place from Mondays through to Saturdays, with the majority of weekday classes taking place between 6:30pm and 9:45pm. Classes are accompanied by a live musician each week, with teaching artists and musicians making up the heart of a vibrant class programme.

We are currently looking to add to our pool of musicians, initially for cover contracts with a possibility for termly contracts or opportunities on holiday projects in the future.

We are keen to hear from artists who are experienced in delivering or playing for dance classes for young people up to adults, and who have an embodied experience of, and playing practice in, one or more of the following areas: West-African dance techniques, traditional and contemporary African dance practices, Street Dance styles, Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and other diasporic dance forms originating from the Global South.

We are open to musicians using a range of instruments in order to provide inspiring accompaniment for the sessions.
