COVID-19 FAQs

On this page you will find all the latest information regarding The Place’s response to Covid-19 in accordance with the government’s latest guidance.

Is The Place open?    

Our Theatre performance programme and our Classes and Courses programme have returned to full activity with in-person events. The box office is open for in-person or telephone bookings from Tuesday to Friday between midday and 5pm.   

In line with government guidelines everyone is encouraged to continue looking after their own health, the health of others around them and those in the community. There are safer behaviours we can all adopt to help reduce the ongoing risk of catching and passing on Covid-19. On this basis we encourage you to wear a face covering if you would feel more comfortable to do so.  In line with government and public health requirements we:      

  • monitor Covid cases at The Place and follow all government updates 
  • provide adequate ventilation    
  • communicate and train – keeping all our staff and visitors up to date

Can I attend classes?    

Yes, our term time in-person classes and courses information can be found here.  

You can also access some classes virtually with our pre-recorded classes to introduce you to the fundamental principles of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, and Dancing all over The Place, a creative dance series for children aged 6-10 years.

What to expect when visiting The Place for classes:   

  • You will be sent any specific requirements and advice for the class you have booked before you arrive – if you are unsure of anything please get in contact. If you have any concerns when you arrive or would like more information, our front of house team will be able to help you.  
  • Please do notattend your class if you have symptoms of covid or have tested positive Please contact us in advance of your class and we will offer you a credit note to attend a future class, if appropriate.    
  • Toilets and changing rooms are open.  
  • Classes may finish a few minutes early to maximise ventilation between classes.   
  • Those collecting secondary school age children and above are asked to meet them outside the Flaxman Terrace entrance at the end of class where they will be signed out by a member of staff.    
  • If The Place cancels a class due to covid, you will be contacted via email and offered credit to use for a future class or if that is not possible, you will receive a refund.   
  • Please note: Visitors with access needs will be given priority in any queue management processes.    
       

Can I see performances?    

Yes you can! We are excited to have returned to our theatre with a regular season of programming. Details are available here.

Booking Tickets:   

  • If The Place cancels an event due to unforeseen circumstances related to Covid-19, you will be contacted via email and offered credit on your account to use for a future event.  
  • If you have Covid-19 and cannot attend a live event, please let our Box Office know at least 1 hour before the event is due to start by emailing box office. You will be offered credit on your account to use for a future event.   
  • Socially-distanced seating is available for many performances for those who require it (please contact the box office directly to book this seating).  

Can I hire the building/studios?    

We take hires throughout the week. We are asking hirers to consider covid in their activity assessment or method statement detailing how they are keeping their studio users safe.

Is your bar / café open? Can I use the building to have meetings?   

Our theatre bar is open for performances but our daytime cafe remains closed at present. If you would like to hire a meeting space please contact our Visitor Services team.  

   

What is happening in the building in general?    

Our London Contemporary Dance School are on site for in person learning.  Our studios are busy with public classes and courses. Spaces are open for hire for rehearsals, research and filming.
