Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee has been established in August / September 2020 in order to oversee the formulation of institutional action plans as well as organisation-wide policies and procedures relating to equality and diversity. This Committee encourages and assists all departments in the integration and implementation of equality and diversity policies, procedures and plans, and monitors and evaluates their effectiveness. This Committee also maintains consultation and communication with all relevant groups and external bodies to advise on this work. 

The first committee meeting was held at the end of September 2020. The Committee members include representatives from our staff as well as independent professional artists.

The Committee is co-chaired by Michael “Mikey J” Asante and Catherine Ward, both of whom are members of our Board of Governors. Other Committee members include:

  • Senior Leadership Representative: Eddie Nixon, Artistic Director at The Place
  • Senior Management Team Representative: Laura Naldrett, HR and Administration Manager at The Place
  • Faculty Representative: Anna Helsby, Head of Registry and Student Wellbeing for LCDS
  • Public Programmes Representative: Maria Ryan, Creative Learning Producer
  • Hourly Paid Staff Representative: Nicholas Hewlett, musicians
  • Hourly Paid Staff Representative: Ingrid Mackinnon, guest teacher for LCDS
  • Salaried Staff Representative: Tom Hastings, Lecturer in Dance for LCDS
  • Salaried Staff Representative: Gitta Wigro, Course Leader for MA Screendance (Maternity Leave Cover) for LCDS
  • Independent Artist Representative: Annie Edwards
  • Independent Artist Representative: Malik Nashad Sharpe
  • Student Representative (BA3): Analeise Auguste
  • Student Representative (BA2): Aishani Ghosh
