Frequently Asked Questions - Youth

We offer creative Contemporary dance classes for participants aged 5-15yrs. These classes take place on Saturday mornings and run on a termly basis. In addition to this, we also offer workshops and holiday projects throughout the year. To view our current programme click here

You can book a class online here, in person in our office, or over the phone by calling 020 7121 1080 / 1034. All participants who are booked to participate in a class or course must then submit a completed Participant Information form. Please note if you do not complete the form your young dancer will not be able to take part.

To complete your Participant Information form please follow the link included in your welcome email. If you experience any technical issues with the online enrolment form please email us for a downloadable version or pick up a paper copy from our office.

Your young dancer’s safety is paramount to us and this form allows us to ensure we have any relevant medical information and contact details to best assist your young dancer.

All fees must be settled by the second Saturday of the term. Payments by card can be made over the phone by calling us or the Box Office (020 7121 1100). Alternatively, payments can be made in the Classes & Courses office where we accept cash, card and cheques, made payable to The London Contemporary Dance Trust. If you are unable to meet the deadline please ensure you arrange a payment plan with us by phone, email or in our office. All payment plans must be agreed by the first Saturday of the term.

We are unable to offer refunds unless it is for medical reasons and a doctor’s note can be provided to the office team.

Please note: We do not offer retrospective refunds. All refunds will only be given from the date of notice. You can request a refund by email or calling 020 7121 1034 Tue-Sat during term time.

My child does not have a medical reason for no longer attending, can I get a refund if they no longer want to come?

Firstly please speak to the office team here on a Saturday, we are keen to help and want your participant to enjoy the experience. We find that most situations can be resolved by tweaking small elements to ensure your participant enjoys their time with us. We are located on level 2 in the Classes & Courses Office and are open Saturdays between 09:30 – 16:30.

If your child still feels that the programme is not for them we can issue a credit refund providing we are notified by the second week of the term which can be used for any other class, course or performance at The Place. Credit refunds are subject to a £30.00 non-refundable deposit.**

** All participants’ bookings include a £30 non-refundable deposit, this financially covers two classes from the overall fee. If you update us less than two weeks before term starts that your participant will not be joining their class this term we can refund the full fee to credit against your account but will retain the £30.00 non-refundable deposit. If you update us within the first TWO weeks of the term we will need to retain your £30.00 non-refundable deposit to cover the classes that your participant has taken, even if they did not physically participate.

Please click here to take a look at our Terms and Conditions for more information on refunds.

If your child decides that the Saturday programme is not for them we can issue a refund providing we are notified by the second week of term and are able to fill their place.
Please note: we will withhold the cost of the class that they have attended along with an administration fee of £10. We are also happy to transfer any fees to any of our children and youth dance holiday projects during the academic year.

If you are unable to afford fees we can discuss methods of payment further. Financial contributions through the Iris Tomlinson Fund can be applied for through a means-tested application form. You can download the form at the bottom of this page. The deadline to return this form is the first Saturday of the term.

Through challenging and engaging activities, our team of highly skilled teachers encourage dancers to develop their technical expertise, creativity and musicality. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to develop creatively with their peers.

Please wear clothes that are comfortable to move in – not too tight or too baggy. We suggest tracksuit bottoms, leggings or shorts and a t-shirt or leotard and footless tights. No shoes, jeans or jewellery are to be worn and long hair must be tied back.

Male and female changing rooms are available; entrance codes will be available from reception or the registration desk. In the interest of safety, please do not bring any valuables with you or leave anything in the changing rooms. Your belongings can be brought into the studio and left neatly at the edge of the room.

Participants should bring a bottle of water which you can refill from the onsite water fountains. Please be aware that food and drinks (other than water) are not allowed in our studios.

We appreciate students arriving to and being collected from their classes promptly. For health and safety reasons if a student arrives late for class by 15 minutes or more it is at the teacher’s discretion whether they may participate. However, if asked to sit out students are always invited to observe.

We cannot accept responsibility for students Year 7 and up once sessions have finished. For children in years 1-6, we sign students out to parents/carers at the end of each session. In the event of an emergency, the office should be notified of a late collection at the earliest opportunity upon which your child will be brought to the office until collected.

In your enrolment, you are able to agree whether images and footage of your young person can be used for promoting the work of The Place.
