A bit more about Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® Technique:

The ‘Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® Technique’ was developed over 50 years ago in the USA by Zena Rommett.

Based on ballet technique, alongside anatomical principles of alignment, Floor-Barre® incorporates sequences of movements on the floor. Without the pressure of gravity, it focuses on placement, lengthens and strengthens the musculature, to sculpt the body, creating beautiful, long, exquisite lines. By centering the body without the effort of standing, the dancers are allowed to safely work on their own maximum turnout and extension, sending energy out of their lengthened legs and spine’.

Zena’s technique aids in the rehabilitation as well as the prevention of injuries. Suitable for non-dancers, as well as dancers, it increases flexibility, strength and fluidity, corrects posture, refines and builds healthy patterns in the muscle memory.

A bit about me:

Since my graduation in 2011 from the London Contemporary Dance School, I have been involved in both independent creative collaborations and teaching in France, England and Israel. I worked with the Kamea Dance Company for two years, after which I returned to freelancing, as a performer and a teacher based in London.

Throughout my experience, I have always been very keen on exploring movement in depth so as to examine the various possibilities of our expression. My commitment and curiosity have made me a versatile and distinctive dancer, and also pushed me to discover and deepen my understanding of the human body and mind, through a wide range of alternative techniques such as Yoga, Pilates or Floor-Barre®.

It then felt very natural that I’d develop such an interest for the Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® Technique when I first discovered it about 6 years ago with the amazing Nina Thilas-Mohs (certified Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® Master Teacher) and passed my Teaching Certifications, level 1&2, in July 2017 and August 2018. I teach occasional workshops, cover classes and I have taught full term adult Floor-Barre® classes at The Place. I am particularly interested in helping each student find their own genuine path for improvement and creating a safe and respectful environment.
