Frauke Requardt (a mother) dunks you in the mess. This is relentless, this is ferocious, this is euphoric. This is tiny and tender.
Godmother, Birth mother, Working mother, Earth mother, Mother-tongue, Motherland, Mothercare(TM), MILF. Frauke Requardt (a mother) dunks you in the mess.
Mothers is a dance across sticky surfaces with slippery bodies. Time is interrupted (MUMMY!) time drags on (AGAIN! AGAIN!) .
This is relentless, this is ferocious, this is euphoric. This is tiny and tender.
The show expresses the physical and emotional journey of new motherhood and was developed using interviews with new parents and Frauke’s own experience. Frauke identified that the experience of becoming a mother represented a monumental change in her adult life, but was strangely underrepresented in the arts. Perfectly suited to the medium of dance, Mothers uses movement to express the extremes of the bodily experience, and the emotional highs and lows.

“An hour of often quite startling weirdness, a narrative-free cascade of images that revels in the mess and mayhem of having children… a dark tinged work that doesn’t hold back from sharing the less than glamorous aspects of motherhood” – londondance.com
“Admirably non-sanitised and unsentimental, and flecked with some simple yet striking physicality and imagery” -The Times
