15 Jul 2021

Everyone at The Place and London Contemporary Dance School is delighted that the Leverhulme Trust has awarded a total of £522,464, from the period September 2022 to August 2025, to support student bursaries through the Arts Scholarships programme. The Leverhulme Trust has been supporting students at LCDS for over 40 years, leaving a lasting impression on the development of contemporary dance in the UK.

The Leverhulme Trust was established by the Will of William Hesketh Lever, the founder of Lever Brothers. Since 1925 the Trust has provided grants and scholarships for research and education. Today, it is one of the largest all-subject providers of research funding in the UK, distributing approximately £100m a year.

Clare Connor says

We’re thrilled that The Leverhulme Trust has awarded LCDS this grant in support of our undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing a vital lifeline to those in financial need.

The Leverhulme Trust has been supporting LCDS for over 40 years and it is through this most significant and long-standing partnership that we are able to work successfully at the very intersection between access and excellence and be a global leader in dance education. Thank you to The Leverhulme Trust.
