Jo teaches a technique-focused class that aims to give students a secure foundation on which to build their ballet performance. The class builds in complexity throughout the term and regular students should see an improvement in both their understanding and execution of core ballet movements.
Josephine Darvill-Mills trained at The Royal Ballet School before graduating from London Studio Centre. She has worked in various productions such as The Most Incredible Thing, In the Spirit of Diaghilev and Cabaret, all by Javier De Frutos, as well as ROH2’s Pinocchio. She has taught for several outreach programmes for these productions and worked as an assistant choreographer for Ben Hur Live with Liam Steel. She has danced in music videos for Franz Ferdinand and Calvin Harris.
Ballet Level 1 is for students who hold a basic understanding in contemporary or ballet and are looking to develop their technique and increase their dance vocabulary. This class comprises of a variety of exercises at the barre, warming up your muscles and giving your body time to investigate traditional ballet structures. The class continues in the centre, applying the techniques used in the barre warm up into longer sequences, such as allegro and travelling phrases.
