Trainee Producer (8-month Traineeship)

We are currently offering a very exciting opportunity for a Trainee Producer to join The Place’s Artist and Theatre Development Team to work on the Change Makers programme. We are keen to find someone who is passionate about dance and hip hop.

You’ll be part of a small team dedicated to producing the Live Vibe Festival in June 2018 and a brand new Hip-Hop/African Festival in October 2018. This traineeship will help you to gain general administrative skills, and understand how the theatre and artist development programme is created and delivered in a busy arts and higher education organisation. In your daily work you will be involved in tasks such as dealing with phone enquiries, assisting with incoming productions and providing general admin support to Associate Producer Hakeem Onibudo.

What we’ll need from you are good IT Skills including MS Word, MS Excel and use of e-mail. You will be able to show us that you are a good communicator, that you are detail-oriented and that you can work as part of a team. We’ll expect you to be self-motivated and able to take instruction, as well as to work on your own initiative and manage your time well. You’ll have a can-do attitude, a good sense of humour and will be happy to deal with any task handed to you no matter how large or small, and enjoy working to important deadlines.

Funding from the Arts Council England Change Makers fund has enabled performer, choreographer and British Council ambassador Hakeem Onibudo to collaborate with The Place on a series of projects aimed at increasing the number of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people who engage with the organisation, whether as audience members, staff, artists or students.

We particularly welcome applications from BAME backgrounds.

This fixed-term post is offered for 8 months from April 2018 – December 2018.

Salary: £20,292 p.a.

Deadline for applications: 12 noon Friday 16 March 2017

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 27 March at The Place.
