All professional classes at The Place are intended for high-level dancers only. These classes offer professional dancers an opportunity to maintain their skills and abilities, network with other professionals and even maybe find new projects to work on.
If you are an amateur dancer, there are lots of other opportunities for you to engage with. Browse our adult classes programme for more information.
These classes require professional standards from participants and early arrival is required for warm up.
Pepa Ubera teaches an explorative class for dancers to train their skills in improvisation and instant creation. Every day of the week will have a different focus and we will travel together throughout scores that aim to activate the imagination, group attention and movement articulation. The training is devised for dancers to keep developing their own practice and encounter possibilities for change and discovery.
Pepa Ubera is a performer and choreographer based in London since 2003. Her work challenges social structures, questioning how the body behaves in the current context. In her interdisciplinary practice she has been exploring other medias as choreographic tools working with sound, video, light and curating contemporary performance. Currently Pepa is one of the Sadlers Wells Summer University artists and has twice been awarded a Dance Web Scholarship at the Impulstanz Festival Vienna. She has presented work in the UK, Europe and Chile and performed in venues such as The Place, ICA, Barbican Botanic Gardens, Hayward Gallery, Sadler’s Wells and the Tanks, Tate modern.
