For the first time, The Place will present three productions at vibrant arts venue Summerhall as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme. These shows, created by artists on The Place’s Work Place programme, represent some of the most exciting contemporary work in Europe at the moment, and are an extension of The Place's commitment to developing choreographic talent and pushing the boundaries of what dance can be. We are also delighted to be supporting The Total Theatre & The Place Award for Dance which will recognise a company or artist that is making dance as a fresh reaction to the way the world is now.
Lost Dog’s restaging of the creation of everything. Inspired by Milton’s epic poem with less words, more dance and never before seen levels of divine incompetence. A show for anyone who has ever created anything (a child, a garden, a paper aeroplane) and then had to watch that wonderful thing spiral out of control. As God himself once said 'in the beginning it all seemed like such a good idea.'
‘Comic yet touching' ★★★★ (The Times)

We started out wanting to change the world with a performance. We felt like idiots. Then we danced a lot. We jumped. We called on the folk traditions of Sardinia and the Basque Country. We sang. We jumped some more. We committed. Now we promise to stick together. We promise to persevere. We promise to do our best.

Four dancers explore the fragility and humour of touch. How are we connected even when separated by distance, time or context? How do we touch without touching? We question the limits of the body and the mind’s connections. Without ever leaving your seat, you are called to inhabit the same imaginative space as us in an invitation to participate in an empathetic, exhilarating, imagined touch.
