Step 1: The Opportunity

Resolution 2020: The Opportunity

  • If selected, your work will be shown at The Place as part of a triple bill in January or February 2020.
  • You will receive full technical and marketing support, including three technicians to support your performance and inclusion in the Resolution brochure.
  • Your performance will be reviewed by established and emerging critics for Resolution Review online.
  • You will be able to attend free professional development workshops designed to complement and inform the choreographic process.
  • You will be able to receive a HD quality recording of your performance free of charge.

How it works

  • To cover our running costs, the theatre takes a first call of £1605 of the NET box office income for each night of Resolution.
  • Any box office income which exceeds this amount is divided equally between the 3 companies who share the night.
  • If you don’t sell enough tickets to cover this £1605, you must pay the theatre the remaining balance which is also divided equally between the 3 companies who share the night.
  • There are no upfront costs.

Applications are open and will close at midday on Thu 5 Sep 2019.

We will be holding a Resolution Open Clinic on Mon 2 Sep, 6-7pm, where you come have the opportunity to come to The Place, meet the team, and learn more about the application process and the Resolution festival experience. Bring those burning questions! If you would like to attend please email to reserve a place. There are limited places available, so booking is essential.

Professional Development Workshops

For Resolution companies one of the most significant aspects - alongside the performance - is the supportive workshops we provide. These are designed to help you through the creative and organisational period of making work, right through to thinking long-term about working in the industry, understanding how to plan, budget and manage your projects.

Below are the dates for the compulsory workshops, but if chosen for the festival you will also be invited for a selection of further workshops in addition to these. These will take place from Oct 2019 - Mar 2020 and all workshops are free of charge for Resolution choreographers.

Evolution companies (i.e. companies who have presented their work at Resolution before) do not have to attend these two workshops but are welcome to if they wish.
