For Resolution companies one of the most significant aspects - alongside the performance - is the supportive workshops we provide. These are designed to help you through the creative and organisational period of making work, right through to thinking long-term about working in the industry, understanding how to plan, budget and manage your projects.
Below are the dates for the compulsory workshops, but if chosen for the festival you will also be invited for a selection of further workshops in addition to these. These will take place from Oct 2019 - Mar 2020 and all workshops are free of charge for Resolution choreographers.
*The Briefing Meeting is compulsory for ALL Resolution 2020 companies. However, the Marketing and Technical workshops are only compulsory for First Footing companies. Evolution companies (i.e. companies who have presented their work at Resolution before) do not have to attend these two workshops but are welcome to if they wish.
Led by the Theatre and Artist Development Team at The Place, this session is a comprehensive guide to the Resolution experience. Meet the team at The Place and the other companies who you’re sharing a performance night with! Find out more about the process, the workshops and what to expect from your experience. This an opportunity to get your head wrapped around both the administrative side of things, such as the financial deal, deadlines and timelines, as well as the creative development opportunities available to you. This initial meeting is crucial to begin your journey in Resolution.
Led by The Place’s Communications team, this workshop gives you some basic and vital tools to maximise your chances of getting your work out there and selling tickets to your Resolution night. From defining your target audience and working out the best plan to reach it, to choosing an image that will draw attention to your piece; you will leave this workshop inspired and confident to market your work creatively and strategically.
An essential and comprehensive guide for all Resolution choreographers.
This workshop will support you in preparing for your Resolution performance and provide you with insight on how technical support can significantly enhance your work. You will learn about lighting options, sound set ups, and the logistics of putting on your performance at The Place. It will boost your confidence and knowledge when working on your Resolution piece and will help to make your technical rehearsal go as smoothly as possible.
The workshop takes place in the theatre itself, with demonstrations, anecdotal information and the opportunity to ask questions to Marco, the Technical Manager at The Place. Your designers are also welcome to join us for this workshop.
