Studio Hire FAQs

How do I book a studio or meeting room?

It couldn’t be simpler, just complete a booking enquiry form and email it to space@theplace.org.uk. We will get back to you within 3days with a list of options to choose from. Once you are happy with the details, we’ll send you an invoice along with payment information. You will need to complete the payment to secure the booking. 


What if I need to cancel a booking? 

Our cancellation policy starts taking effect from the time you confirm the booking and receive the invoice. Our cancellation policy is as follows: 

We require a minimum of 30 days cancellation notice prior to your booking date, otherwise we will charge you a cancellation fee as below.

  • 50% of the invoice will be charged if you cancel 30 days to a week prior to the booking date
  • 100% of the invoice will be charged if you cancel within a week of the booking date.


Can I book a regular (weekly) class at The Place?

Our schedule for regular bookings is currently saturated. We are not able to take in any new regular bookings for weekly classes but there is always variation in our schedule so it’s worth getting in touch about any specific dates for one-off bookings.

Generally during term time, we only have very limited availability in the week or on Saturdays[LM1]  during the day. There is good availability of spaces on most Saturday and Sunday evenings. However our schedule changes from week to week so it is always worth checking in.


What are your opening hours?

  • Monday to Friday 9am – 10pm; Saturday and Sunday 9am – 8pm.


Do you have changing rooms?

Yes. We have female, male, gender-neutral and accessible changing rooms with showers.


Do you have disabled access and facilities?

Yes! We have a step-free entrance. All our studios, meeting spaces and facilities are accessible by lift. We have accessible changing rooms with shower, and accessible toilets.

We ask wheelchair users to wipe their wheels before entering the dance studios.

We are also open to access animals, please let us know when booking if you may be bringing one with you.


Where can I park?

Bikes: there are bicycle racks outside The Place's Flaxman Terrace entrance.

Motorcycles: there is motorcycle parking on Duke's Road.

Cars: there are metered parking spaces for cars in the roads around The Place (free after 6.30pm weekdays, 1.30pm Saturdays and on Sundays) and dedicated spaces for Blue Badge holders outside each entrance.

You can also use the JustPark app to book a parking space at St Pancras church.


Are there Wifi facilities?

Of course. Ask for the login details at reception.


Do you have a café?

We do! Our on-site cafe is open 9.30-17.00 on weekdays, and in the evening on performance days (see here for performance programme).


Are there break-out spaces?

Depending on your needs, we can offer a variety of break-out spaces in addition to your room hire. We have 2 meeting rooms and a lecture room for hire. There are some public spaces which are open for all building users, such as the café, box office area and stretching zones.


Can we see the spaces before we book?

We’d be more than happy to show you around the building and have a chat about your plans and preferences. The Space Bookings Team generally work on weekdays 10am – 6pm; email space@theplace.org.uk to book a time to come and speak to us.


Can we take food and drink into the studios?

To avoid any damage to our studios, we do not allow food or drink into the studios except bottled water.
