Inspired by a refusal to be silent, and a history of learning disabled isolation, choreographer DJ Hassan spins between joy and loneliness in a powerful expression of what it feels like to be learning disabled today.
In the 1900s, people with learning disabilities were often locked up in long-stay hospitals for life, separated from society, community and family. To give residents a moment of joy, nurses put caged birds on the wards. These birds sometimes became so depressed that they stopped singing.
In 2018, people with learning disabilities are once again becoming isolated in their own homes as support structures disappear. In the coming year, Access All Areas and five learning disabled artists explore a history of abuse, and an enduring hope for revolution.

Perception, hip hop movement through a contemporary mindset. Do you wonder how you are perceived by others? Do they see the front that you portray or the reality beneath the surface? A front that causes a perception is not a reality, the reality is we have lost control. Once this control is restored the path before us becomes clear.
